Hello! I'm Valarie a Florida based artist. I enjoy capturing romantic landscapes, beauty of relationships, and bodies in movement, whether water or people- utilizing whimsical, and sometimes abstract, expressionism styles.

Statement

I create paintings using oil, acrylic or watercolors to express the beauty I see in new ways. Painting is therapeutic and I'm inspired by simple things that bring joy and healing. I continue to learn and explore new processes for layering paint, utilize vibrant colors and varied brush strokes to add interest to everyday subjects- all from a little pink house nestled in the historic district of Ocala (my favorite place). My work is a reminder that we can all heal, grow and are continually being renewed. Creating art inspires the freedom to be wholly myself.

Biography

Originally from NY, Valarie moved to FL in 1993 after completing a MS in Speech Pathology. While Primarily working in the education field, she pursued creative endeavors on the side to maintain a long time love of creating, drawing and painting.  As a recent 'empty nester', she began taking her art more seriously devoting time to courses, consistent effort to practice, hone skills and find her voice. The creative journey is ongoing and Valarie is excited to see the way it continues to grow.
